A wandering mind is an unhappy mind. According to a Harvard study people spend 46.9% of their waking hours thinking about something other than what they are doing. This is a norm today as the mind spends its time either focused on the past, or, the future, or simply muddling in “should have’s” & “what if’s”. Mindfulness and Meditation are two simple techniques that are scientifically proven to improve our well-being by increasing focus and concentration bringing harmony into our lives.

Mindfulness and Meditation embody many similarities but the two terms are not actually synonymous. Mindfulness is a simple act of paying attention, noticing, & being fully present to whatever you are doing or experiencing in the moment. It can be a formal or informal practice. You can practice mindfulness anytime, anywhere, doing anything.

Meditation on the other hand is a formal practice which we do seated usually beginning with deep breathing and bringing our awareness to breath and consciously guiding the mind towards an anchor, or a single point of focus. Meditation is an intentional practice to increase focus, concentration, and awareness.

How do the two compliment each other

Practicing mindfulness will enhance your experience with the present moment thus increasing your ability to be mindfully aware in your meditations as well while practicing meditation will strengthen your focus, presence, & mindfulness in every part of your life.
